Kicking off the 2020-2021 school year, Freedom Mortgage employees donated $90,000 worth of back-to-school supplies to nearly 3,000 children of military families through the Rucksacks to Backpacks program.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, employees contributed virtually by purchasing backpacks and school supplies online which were shipped directly to individual USO locations across the country. The items were assembled and distributed at drive-through events where volunteers took several precautions to ensure staff and attendee safety. Despite these restrictions, we are proud to have donated nine times as many school supplies as we had in 2019!
In addition to the supplies collected, Freedom Mortgage donated $1,000 to each participating USO resulting in a $10,000 total contribution split amongst the following centers:
- USO Arizona
- USO Bob Hope
- USO Central Ohio
- USO of Greater Jacksonville
- USO Indiana
- USO Liberty
- USO Metro NY
- USO Metro Washington
