Record Breaking Year for the Freedom Mortgage Food Drive

Team Freedom Cares’ Annual Canned Food Drive had a record breaking seventh year.

Team Freedom Cares' Annual Canned Food Drive had a record breaking seventh year. Every year Freedom Mortgage employees work together to fill collection boxes for Feeding America food banks, bringing in over 31,220 nonperishable items companywide last year. This year employees rallied together to surpass last year's collection efforts and raised a magnificent 47,163 items to help families fighting food insecurity.

In the United States 1 in 8 households face food insecurity, when they are unable to provide enough food for each family member due to low income or reduced access to other resources (i.e. children who are home for summer vacation no longer get free school lunches). The organization feeds more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.

Freedom Mortgage’s New Jersey offices supported 93.3 WMMR’s Preston & Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger 2019, the country’s largest single-location food drive. More than half of the Philabundance Food Bank donations are accounted for from this food drive each year. NJ employees engaged in a friendly competition among departments to increase participation, and collected a total of 35,000 items (15 tons!) of food.

Freedom Mortgage thanks its employees for their generosity and enthusiasm in helping our neighbors who need it most this holiday season. To learn more or donate to Feeding America, visit: feedingamerica.org.
